“There’s A Snail In The Garden” at Greystones Theatre
Following the riotous success of the first ever performance in September, Shakabang Entertainment is proud to join with Greystones Theatre in presenting two further performances of “There’s A Snail In The Garden” at Greystones Theatre, at 2pm on Saturday November 22nd and a Chsristmas Special Show on Saturday December 20th.
“There’s A Snail In the Garden” is a concert for young children and their families. The show is aimed primarily at children aged 4 – 10 years, but older and younger are all very welcome!
The centre of the show is a collection of songs written for children by Dermot & Bairbre Carmody and performed by Dermot and Morgan C Jones. The songs have been released on iTunes and the CD will also be available for sale at the shows.
What’s In “There’s A Snail In The Garden”?
Musical Comedy Duo and serial fathers Dermot Carmody provide laughter and music for parents and children alike in a fast-paced and light-hearted hour-long show of jokes, organised chaos and songs.
There’s the title song wondering about the determined but not speedy progress of a snail on the back doorstep. There’s a protest song for the modern traffic-bound child (“Mammy, Are We Nearly There Yet?”), a song celebrating the essential nature of all those odd bits of body we all seem to have (“If you take away your knees/Then your legs won’t bend…”). “Tiny Tiny Things” highlights the plight of those even smaller than ourselves: “Did you ever see a Flea on MTV/Talking about their latest hit?”).
This is an album addressing the real concerns of children (“Why is there fluff in my belly button?”) and making a noisy virtue out of dental Hygiene (“Brushy Brushy”). Somewhere in there you get to move shake, shout and bang all at the same time just because (“Shake-a-Bang”) and in the middle of it all there’s even a song about… Middles!
Children and their families can join in the fun by singing and playing along, safe in the knowledge that you can’t possibly look any sillier than the two men on stage!
